Missions Connections

Our church supports (by finances, prayer or hospitality)
The Yourkowski
family working with the Navigators at
Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado.
- Norman Mayes, an evangelist from England, who travels the world sharing the good news.
Our latest mission was to Honduras.
For 2008 the Outreach Team is planning 3 outreach
events. Here's a note from our Outreach Coordinator:
- Summer Vacation Bible School in July timeframe.
We are looking at doing this at the church, and preliminarily are
considering the possibility of about 50 children. (This is based upon the
fact that if we open this up to NLCC children ages 4ish through 10ish, we
could have 20 children from NLCC alone. Our goal is to have at least 1-2
non-NLCC children per NLCC child. This is designed as Outreach, after all.)
My hope is to choose a VBS that culminates in a short presentation to a
pre-recorded cd, which would include children's sing-alongs and basic
choreography.
- Camp
Occohannock
on the Bay in early/mid August timeframe. The camp is about three
hours away and provides the opportunity for camping/outdoor activities,
community outreach, Habitat for Humanity-type labors, and Christian
fellowship. For those interested in serving outside of our community, but
not able to travel to a foreign country for time or expense reasons, or the
inability to take the entire family, this may be perfect for you. It is
relatively close, very inexpensive, and could be done in a long weekend, or
a full week.
- Cofradia, Mexico with Alternative Missions in
Nov./Dec timeframe. There are many different ways to approach this
opportunity, but beyond the obvious idea of ministry, we may focus on "work"
and a specific construction project. Additionally, the idea of a VBS has
been brought up as well.
