Seven Purposes Of
New Life Community Church

New Life Community exists to glorify God and display His character to our community by:

1. Worship of the Triune God through Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, "You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him" Matthew 4:10.

"God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth" John 4:24.

Three Words to Describe our New Life Worship Vision ...

1. Joyful - Our worship is victorious, not somber.

2. Informal - No white collars or vestments.

3. Variety - We worship God within Biblical boundaries but in many styles.

2. Building individual members to full maturity in Christ.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18.

First we reach people, then we teach people. We are a discipling church. Discipleship means helping believers to mature. We help people to grow through all five seasons of spiritual life:

1. Seeker - The Spirit of God is causing a person to seek the new life that only Jesus can supply.

2. Infant - A new believer in Christ. Needs basic training and fellowship with Christians.

3. Adolescent - Needs guidance to apply knowledge in love and wisdom. Needs help in discovering spiritual gifts and understanding who they are in Christ and in relation to others.

4. Adult - A mature believer in Christ building the Kingdom of God by serving and discipling others.

5. Perfection - The season of life found after death in the presence of the Lord.

3. Emphasizing an "every member ministry" based on individual talents and spiritual gifts.

Maturity is not an end in itself. God wants you to grow so that you can serve! One of our church mottos is "Every Member a Minister." Ministry is meeting needs and healing hurts through gifted service.

Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God's various gifts of grace. 1 Peter 4:10

4. Building strong family relationships as the foundation of society.

Our society desperately needs the family priniciples which are taught in the Bible:

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:27-28

So Paul said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Then Paul and Silas spoke the word of the Lord to the jailor and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. Acts 16:31-34

Each one of you husbands must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:32

New Life is a family-based ministry. Family-based ministry means:

1. We focus much of our energy upon discipling the priest of the family, i.e. the dad and husband.

2. We provide modelling and tools for the priest of the home to love and disciple the members of his own family.

3. We emphasize intergenerational activites that strengthen the family bond, rather than divide the family.

4. We think of and plan for our ministry in terms of four generations rather than one or two.

5. Training our children, by our God given rights, in the grace and law of Jesus Christ.

Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. Deuteronomy 11:18-21

Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

6. Ministering to one another's physical and spiritual needs through fellowship among those in the Body of Christ, His Church.

Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple, and they broke bread in their homes and ate together with gladness and simplicity of heart. Acts 2:44-46

We must love our brothers and sisters not just by words but by actions. This means seeking God to know how we should share our cars, our homes, and our finances with those who are in need.

7. Bringing non-believers to faith in Christ both locally and world-wide.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14

We support missions in foreign countries and cross cultural ministries in our own geographic area. For personal evangelism we emphasize a TEAM Evangelism approach in which we utilize all of the gifts of the Body to provide our non-Christian friends with 7 touches of love and 3 hearings of the gospel.
